Frequently asked questions

We have the answers.

No. Each connects to the PC as a separate device and works with any direct drive base. That is what lets you complete a rig without staying inside a single ecosystem.

The SF-SH is an H-pattern: you find each gear in a plane, like a manual gearbox. The SF-SMG is sequential: forward to upshift, back to downshift. The first is more demanding and slower, the second closer to current race cars.

No, it works on a mechanical principle, which explains its price positioning. Modulation is more binary than with a hydraulic handbrake, but it does its job well for discovering drift or handling a rally hairpin.

With the sequential, yes, without difficulty. With the H-pattern, most simulations offer clutch assistance, but you then lose most of the exercise. If you are aiming for H-pattern, plan on a three-pedal set.

They are intended for PC. That is a console limitation on this type of additional peripheral, not something specific to PXN.

It is strongly recommended. A handbrake takes firm lateral load: on a flexible mount the whole assembly shifts on every pull and modulation becomes impossible. Aluminium extrusion mounting settles the question.

Technically yes, but ergonomics suffer: both movements come from the same hand and the same zone. Many drivers put the shifter on the right and the handbrake further forward or on the other side depending on discipline.

The PXN manufacturer warranty covers each product, with service and technical support handled by PassionSim, the official distributor for the brand in Canada.

Buying guide: PXN shifters and handbrakes

PXN covers the three controls you add after the wheel and pedals: an H-pattern, a sequential and a handbrake. It is the range that lets you complete a rig without spending what a wheelbase costs. PassionSim is the official PXN distributor in Canada.

Three controls, three uses

The SF-SH offers an H-pattern gate for older cars, period touring and truck simulation. The SF-SMG works sequentially, faster and closer to modern rally and GT machinery. The HBS handbrake covers drift, rally hairpins and manoeuvring. All three are independent: you add the one your discipline needs.

Where to start

Look at what you drive most. In GT and formula, the wheel's paddles are enough and none of the three is a priority. In rally, the sequential and the handbrake tend to arrive together. In truck simulation or on pre-1990s cars, the H-pattern is what you miss most. Nothing requires taking all three at once.

Installation and compatibility

All three mount on a rig's aluminium extrusion and connect straight to the PC, independently of your wheelbase. Plan for space to the right of the wheel: that is the area both a shifter and a handbrake want, and it is often the real constraint on a compact chassis.
