Buying Guide: PXN Wheels
PXN equips its Direct Drive bundles with wheels designed for one clear goal: giving new drivers an immediate, honest feel with no unnecessary complexity. The 280 mm wheel in the VD6 Bundle uses a compact, versatile format suited to both GT and single-seater racing, ideal for exploring every discipline before specializing.
The 280 mm wheel in the VD6 bundle
That 280 mm diameter isn't random: compact enough for reactivity in formula, comfortable enough for GT stints, it lets you learn the fundamentals of driving (racing lines, braking, grip management) on a single piece of equipment. The essential controls fall naturally under your fingers, and the whole setup integrates natively with the 6 Nm VD6 base, with no complex configuration needed: plug in, calibrate, drive.
Your next step toward specialization
When it's time to specialize, your path forward is already mapped out: a dedicated GT wheel for endurance, a Formula wheel for single-seaters, or a round wheel for rally. Until then, the PXN wheel does exactly what it's asked: get you on track quickly, with real Direct Drive feel. Check out the complete VD6 bundle with base and pedals included.
Limitations, durability and upgrade budget
The fixed format of the 280 mm PXN wheel suits GT and single-seaters well, but less so drift, where a round wheel with a closed rim handles countersteering better. For extra controls, an external USB shifter or handbrake adds on easily without touching the wheel. On durability, the absence of a belt eliminates classic mechanical wear, and upgrading to a dedicated GT wheel typically runs between $400 and $1000 CAD, with no need to ever buy a new base.
