Sim Racing Steering Wheels

The wheel is your main point of contact with the simulation: shape, diameter, controls and materials directly affect your comfort, your consistency and your lap times. At PassionSim, a Canadian shop specializing in sim racing, we group wheels into three main families: Formula wheels with an open profile for single-seaters, GT wheels, versatile for endurance and touring, and round wheels for rally, drift and classics.

The choice starts with your disciplines. If you mainly race F1 or prototypes, a compact Formula wheel like the Rexing Mayaris 2 (carbon chassis, 5-inch touchscreen, magnetic paddles) or the VPG Mission Sim (290 mm, 60 controls, 118 RGB LEDs) maximizes information and reactivity. For GT and endurance, the Moza KS Pro combines an HD screen with carbon paddles. For total versatility, a 325 mm round wheel like the Moza CS Pro covers GT, rally, touring and endurance with a single purchase.

Next, check compatibility with your Direct Drive base: every brand has its own quick-release system (Moza, Simagic, Conspit), and universal solutions exist too, like the Simagic Neo X hub, which accepts standard 70 mm rims. One last piece of advice: magnetic paddles and clutch load cells make a real difference on track; it's the kind of detail that separates a good wheel from a great one.

A more expensive wheel isn't automatically better: the right choice is the one that matches your discipline, not your maximum budget. As long as the new wheel shares your base's quick-release system, you can swap freely; otherwise, an adapter or a universal hub like the Simagic Neo X bridges the gap. A built-in screen isn't mandatory, but it remains a clear advantage for keeping telemetry in view during a race, especially in endurance.
