It depends on your chassis. On many extrusion rigs the front crossbar sits too low or too far forward for a front mount, which puts the wheel outside your driving position. A side mount gives you back full freedom over base height and reach.

Aluminium extrusion chassis and custom builds. It uses the side mounting points already designed into the Alpha EVO base, so no modification to the base is needed. It's also the preferred solution on a formula cockpit, where the base has to drop between the driver's legs.
