Why use a button box if my wheel already has buttons?

Past a certain level, the number of controls you need mid-race exceeds what a wheel can carry: brake bias, engine mapping, traction control, wipers, lights, radio, pit limiter. The CB1 moves all of that onto 30 programmable buttons, within reach without crowding the wheel.

How do I mount the CB1 on my rig?

With the included clamp or on a 100 x 100 mm VESA mount, depending on whether you're fixing it to extrusion, a desk or beside a screen. The unit measures 184 x 144 x 79 mm at around 540 g. It connects over plug-and-play USB-C with no drivers to install.

Is the backlighting useful or purely cosmetic?

Both. Brightness adjusts continuously and 7 colours are available, so you can colour-code control zones and find them without looking mid-race. That holds just as true in truck and farming sims, where the number of functions to manage is even higher.
