Buying guide: the SRP pneumatic handbrake
SRP built its reputation on an idea uncommon in sim racing: using compressed air rather than a spring or a load cell. What pneumatic brings
A pneumatic system builds resistance continuously as you pull, without a spring's hard point or a position sensor's abrupt stop. The lever behaves more like a real car's hydraulic circuit. In practice that means being able to stop halfway through the travel and stay there, which is the central movement in drift.
Who it is for
Drivers who run drift or rally regularly and for whom the handbrake is a driving control in its own right, not an occasional button. If you pull the handbrake three times an evening on a hairpin, a mechanical model does the job. If you use it in every corner to place the car, the difference in modulation shows up as consistency.
Installation and the space it needs
The HB mounts on aluminium extrusion, to the right of the wheel where a real lever sits. Anchor rigidity matters particularly here: the load is lateral and repeated. Plan the space before buying, especially if a shifter already occupies that zone. It connects to the PC, independently of your wheelbase.
