Buying guide: the Conspit H3 handbrake
The handbrake is the control you only notice when it is missing. In rally, in drift and on standing starts, a progressive handbrake changes how you place the car. Why hydraulic rather than a position sensor
A potentiometer handbrake measures how far the lever travels: you pull, it reports a percentage. Hydraulic measures the pressure you actually apply. You feel the difference the moment you need to modulate rather than yank, typically when initiating a slide without locking the rear completely. Effort builds progressively, the way a real hydraulic circuit does.
Which disciplines it suits
Drift first, where the handbrake is part of the basic technique. Rally next, for hairpins where you pivot the car instead of braking it. And more broadly any simulation involving manoeuvring: truck, farming, or simply standing starts in racing. For pure tarmac circuit work, the benefit is more marginal.
Fitting it to your rig
The H3 mounts on aluminium extrusion, to the right of the wheel where a real lever sits. Plan for the space: that is the main constraint on a compact chassis or a desk setup. It connects straight to the PC and is configured as a separate device, without going through your wheelbase.
